  • In Castle Hills the trash pickup is combined with the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) bill. Once you contact SAWS to begin your water service, they will also arrange your trash service. Call Castle Hills for more information.

  • GARBAGE COLLECTION SCHEDULE North of Loop 410 – trash collection is on Tuesday and Friday. South of Loop 410 – trash collection is on Monday and Thursday All trash must be placed curbside or in the alley before 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.

  • City ordinance allows 3 containers, no larger than 32 gallons each, of household trash twice per week. The trash container must have handles, as well as a lid with a handle. (Trash collection is done by hand and the handles are necessary for the collectors to pick up the containers.)   • Residential leaf collection is restricted to TEN 32-gallon size trash bags of leaves. All leaves must be bagged in 32 gallon trash bags (black or clear plastic) and placed neatly together on easement at the curb, or in the alley for pickup. Do not include any other items in with the leaves (no garbage, brush, recycling, or hazardous waste) or the bags will not be picked up. If more than 10 bags are placed out at any one time, the bags will not be picked up. Do not put leaves out on a Holiday week as they will not be picked up. For more information, view the

  • Brush collection is restricted to 3 piles of brush, one time per week. Limbs should be 5 feet long, no larger than 3 inches in diameter, and the brush piles may not be larger than the equivalent of a 32-gallon trash can. Do not include any other items in with the brush (no leaves, garbage, recycling, or hazardous waste.) If other items are mixed with the brush, the piles will not be picked up.   • Be sure to dispose of all hazardous chemicals properly. The Public Works department has a Free drop-off program that allows residents to turn in small quantities of hazardous waste per household. All Hazardous materials must conform to the list of accepted items in order to be dropped off. Resident’s must provide proof of residency in Castle Hills at the time of drop-off. Visit the Hazardous Materials page for complete information on which items are accepted, and which days you can drop items off. No electronics or medications allowed.

  • Castle Hills does not have regular bulky item collection dates. You may call Public Works at (210) 342-2341 x206 to make an appointment for a Surcharge Estimate. The Public Works Director will view the items that need hauling and will provide an estimate for the service. All estimates are at the discretion of the Director, based on the cost to haul and dispose of the item(s). (Note: Not all items can be picked up. Tires, refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners that contain Freon are not allowed)

  • CPS Energy provides and maintains streetlights throughout the City of Castle Hills and the greater San Antonio area. To help maintain the safety of your city streets, report any streetlight repairs or outages directly to CPS Energy by calling 210-353-2222.

If space is available, the Animal Control officer will make same-day arrangements to pick up the pet and process it into the animal shelter. If no space is available, the animal control officer will direct you to other agencies that may be able to assist you with pet intake. Once you have trapped the animal, Animal Control will pick up the trap and release the animal in another location. Animal Control will need to know what type of pet, the hair color, the size, distinguishing marks, where was pet last seen, your name, address, and phone number, does the pet have a collar and tags, or a microchip, and any other important details. Dispatch will contact the animal control officer. In some situations the pet may run off before the animal control officer arrives. Be aware that there is only one animal control officer who has other duties. He will make every effort to find the pet, but in some circumstances, may not be able to assist the animal.
