
Denise Haley was elected Alderman Place 2 in May, 2023. A Castle Hills resident since 1986, she has served the city on the Streets and Drainage and Architectural Review Committees and the Crime Control and Prevention District. She has been an active member and leader of the city’s community organizations, including Fiesta Castle Hills (planning committee and later as overall coordinator); the Castle Hills Woman's Club (executive board, committee chair, event coordinator, and two terms as President); the Castle Hills Garden Club (board member); the Castle Hills Community Organization; and the Castle Hills Business Association. She is also a long-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Castle Hills.
Denise grew up in San Antonio and graduated from John Marshall High School, attended San Antonio College, and received a Bachelor of Journalism degree (Public Relations Major) from The University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation, she worked for an international firm of Certified Public Accountants producing financial statements and other reports as a team member and later as department supervisor. She then operated her own typing, editing, transcription and consultation business for 23 years.
In addition to Castle Hills community activities, Denise has served on boards and in leadership of numerous San Antonio-area nonprofit organizations. They include KLRN-TV, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Unicorn Centers, Inc., Rotary Club of San Antonio-Airport, PAWS for Service, San Antonio Junior Forum, and Assistance League of San Antonio Bexar Hugs Auxiliary.
Along with City Council duties, goals include Denise wants to connect neighbors and promote neighborhood pride and community involvement. She believes that now more than ever community matters; and that the best is yet to come.
