The SBRP has
eligibility/qualifications including criteria requirements in order to receive
these grants to aid small businesses. Under the SBRP, a small business in
Castle Hills must demonstrate a loss of at least 15% in revenue or employment
for the period beginning March 1, 2020 and ending September 30, 2020. Businesses must be located in Castle
Hills and employ less than 10 full-time employees. Businesses must also
be in good standing with the City of Castle Hills regarding licensing and
permits.
Eligible
industries include retail, food and beverage, personal care, health/wellness,
small manufacturing businesses, and non-profit organizations. Local non-profit
organizations, 501(c)(3), are eligible to apply; however, no more than 10% of
total funding can go to non-profits, and grant funds are to be used only for
operational expenses.
National chains, financial institutions, professional services, apartment complexes are not eligible to receive grant funding from this program. Businesses which received Bexar County COVID19 grant funds, thru the LiftFund Small Business Disaster Relief Programs, are not eligible for grants offered by the City. Unfortunately, there are limits on what type of businesses are subject to eligibility. Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
The City will distribute the program
following guidance from Bexar County under the CARES Act. There is a
short window for application and approval due to the time constraint from Bexar
County to administer the funds by September 30th 2020. Information
on the small business program and application is available on the City of
Castle Hills website at https://www.cityofcastlehills.com/
“Castle Hills has a robust small
business community that has been the cornerstone of our City. During the
pandemic, local businesses have struggled to maintain operations and to take
care of their employees. We as a City felt that the CARES Act dollars allocated
to Castle Hills deserved to be shared with our small business community. This
program is an opportunity to support our local businesses, do what Castle Hills
does best come together to support each other through this public health
emergency,” said JR Trevino, Mayor, City of Castle Hills.
