City Council will hold the first of two special meetings on Monday, February 3, at 6:00 pmwhich will involve a public hearing on the proposed amendments to Chapter 50 of the Code of Ordinances as recommended by the Zoning Commission, receive public input and hear a presentation from the Zoning Review Committee and the Zoning Commission on proposed changes to Chapter 50 - Zoning. The current Zoning Commission recommended moving forward with new provisions in Chapter 50 which would allow short-term rentals to operate in the City. The short-term rental language is in sections 50-516 through 50-524 of the proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

The short-term rental provisions permit requirements through an application and a fee under section 50-519 to cover administrative costs. Section 50-520 outlines operational requirements for a short-term rental in Castle Hills. The last two Zoning Commissions have done a considerable amount of work which includes updates to home occupation and an extensive amount of research on what other cities have done to allow and regulate to short-term rentals.

The second public presentation will likely be on February 10, 2020, a copy of the proposed changes and addition to Chapter 50 – Zoning are available on the City’s website.
