GENERAL COURT RULES AND INFORMATION

APPEARANCES AND DISPOSITIONS: All citations and summonses are assigned a deadline to appear in the Castle Hills Municipal Court. This date cannot be extended, as it is simply the date by which a defendant (or their attorney) must notify the Court of how they wish to answer to their charges.  CLICK HERE for information about your  options.

ATTORNEYS:  Before any action may be taken, an attorney must file a letter of representation, identifying the defendant being represented and all of the cases being handled.  The letter should contain a request for:

  • A faxed sentencing offer from the prosecutor,
  • a docket setting (BONDS will be required on warrants), or
  • a standard deferred disposition order.

You can use this form and mail or fax it to the Court offices.

COURTROOM DECORUM: In order to maintain order at all times, the Judge has issued certain rules regarding decorum while in the courtroom.  CLICK HERE for information about the Judge’s rules.

JUROR INFORMATION: Jurors perform a vital role in the American system of justice. The protection of our rights and liberties is largely achieved through the teamwork of judge and jury who, working together in a common effort, put into practice the principles of our great heritage of freedom.  CLICK HERE for juror information.

JUVENILE RULES: Juvenile defendants are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and appear in open court before the Judge. You must appear by the deadline assigned on your citation or summons for the Clerk’s office to assign you a trial date with the Judge. There are also special address rules for juveniles.

MOTIONS: All motions to be filed in the Court must be presented in written form, unless made in open court before the Judge. Each motion shall contain the cause number(s) and the name of the defendant.

WARRANTS AND FAILURE TO APPEAR: Arrest warrants issued out of the Castle Hills Municipal Court are addressed to any peace officer of the State of Texas. With active arrest warrants, you may be arrested at any time at your home, your place of business or while operating a motor vehicle.  CLICK HERE for information on how to take care of your warrants.
